Tapping for Minnesota Relief - Immigration Focus
The United States is currently experiencing widespread human rights violations, immigrants are in hiding and individuals are being harmed or killed; thus leading to trauma and distress for many individuals and community members. This group is offered to those directly impacted by these events, including those who have directly witnessed these atrocities, close to those suffering, and/or affected by these circumstances.
Group Practices:
Participants will engage in Traffic Lights Tapping and the Trauma Tapping Technique—two accessible methods that foster self-regulation, resilience, and healing within a supportive community setting. If time permits, an experimental approach will be offered that incorporates messages shared via the chat (whether single words or short phrases of personal accounts) by use of basic Tapping rounds. Bring paper and pen if desired.
Facilitator:
Lisa Nielsen-Karatz is a clinical social worker based in Minnesota. She provides mental health support in her private practice and community support at an agency serving Spanish-speaking families. In the past couple of weeks Lisa has offered free Tapping groups to Spanish speaking individuals and families located in Minnesota, who are isolated and unable to leave their homes due to safety reasons.
Who Can Attend?
This group is open to anyone seeking a safe space to feel supported and center themselves. All are welcome and particularly those who are directly impacted, whether in the US or not.
